Matar salad | matar kulcha | chole kulche recipe

Recipe of Matar salad | Matar Kulcha | Matar Chaat 

Matar Salad or Matar ki chaat served with delicious Indian bread called kulcha is a famous Indian street food. You will love the flavor of this sweet and tangy salad which is prepared by adding flavorful chutneys. It can be served as a chaat, salad or as a side dish with a kulcha. It is a perfect snack for a rainy day with a hot cup of tea.

These peas are soaked overnight and boiled till soft and mix with the ingredients and spices. It doesn't include any cooking, only topping and mixing of ingredients.

Ingredients : Serves 2
  • 1 cup Matar (peas)
    Matar salad/matar kulcha/chole kulche
  • 1 onion chopped 
  • 1 chopped tomato  
  • 1/2 chopped boiled potato 
  • 2 chopped green chillies 
  • few  pomegranate seeds (optional)
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoon Tamarind chutney (Imli ki chutney)
  • 1 teaspoon mint chutney
  • fresh coriander leaves for garnishing  
Preparation :

  • Soak matar/peas overnight
  • Boil matar in a pressure cooker and keep it aside 
  • Add onion, tomato, potato, green chillies and toss it
  • Add salt, chaat masala, cumin powder, lemon and tamarind chutney and mint chutney in it
  • Toss it again and mix it
  • Put pomegranate seeds on the top of it (optional)
  • Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve cold with hot kulchas
