Stuffed Capsicum with gravy | Bharwa Shimla Mirch | Stuffed bell pepper

How to make Stuffed Capsicum with Potato filling | Bharwal shimla Mirch | Stuffed bell pepper 

This yummy recipe is of stuffed capsicum with potato filling and a rich gravy which is also called as bharwa shimla mirch with curry in hindi. It is a delicious lunch and dinner dish served with Chapati/Roti or rice.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients : Serves 4
For stuffed capsicum and potato filling :

Stuffed Capsicum with potato filling

  • Olive oil / Refine oil 
  • 4 Boiled Potatoes
  • 4 Capsicum
  • 1/2 teaspoon jeera (Cumin seeds)
  • 2 green chillies (Optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt according to taste
For Gravy :
  • 1 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)
  • 6 cloves of garlic (Optional)
  • 2 chopped green chillies
  • 2 finely chopped onions

  • 8 crushed tomato's
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt according to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
Preparation :
For stuffed capsicum and potato filling :
  1. Heat 2 teaspoon oil in a pan, add cumin seeds in the same
  2. When they splutter, add green chillies and add mashed potato in the same
  3. Add chaat masala, garam masala and salt
  4. Roast it for 5 minutes on simmer and mix it well
  5. When done keep stuffing aside
  6. Take capsicums and cut their top and empty them from inside
  7. Stuff them with potato filling
  8. Shallow fry them in a big non-stick pan, you can cook 3 at a time
  9. Roast it from all the sides except top
  10. Keep it aside
For Gravy :

Tomato Gravy, Curry

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add jeera in it
  2. When they splutter, add chopped garlic, onion and green chillies
  3. When onions turn light brown, add crushed tomato's
  4. Cook for 2 minutes on simmer
  5. Add chaat masala, garam masala, coriander powder and salt
  6. Mix well and cook for 1 more minute
  7. Add stuffed capsicum to the gravy
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
Note :  You can cut capsicum in 2 pieces, that would make it easy to serve
