How to make Paneer Pakora | Cottage Cheese Fritters

Paneer Pakoras are cottage cheese fritters coated with gram flour. It is a famous Indian street food served with tamarind chutney and Mint Chutney. These Pakoras are crisp from outside and soft from inside. Pakoras can be served as a breakfast, snack or as a starter. These yummy Paneer Pakoras are relished by everybody and are a filling too. When accompanied by tea, it completes the meal. When serve hot, tastes delicious.

Ingredients : 





  • 1 cup besan (Gram flour)
  • 6 square slices of cottage cheese (Paneer)
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon pepper 
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon jeera powder (Cumin  powder)
  • Oil for deep frying
Preparation :

  1. Take besan (Gram flour) in a bowl
  2. Add salt and chaat masala in the same
  3. Add water in it and mix the batter
  4. Batter should be of medium consistency (Not too thick and not too thin)
  5. Cut slices of paneer (cottage cheese) in square or rectangle, keep it aside
  6. In a bowl, add salt, pepper, garam masala, chaat masala and jeera powder and mix it well
  7. Keep one piece of paneer on the plate and slit a little from the center
  8. Spread masala evenly in the center where we make a cut
  9. Heat oil in a shallow pan for deep frying
  10. When it is hot, dip cottage cheese squares stuffed with masala in the besan batter and drop it in the oil
  11. Keep the flame medium, and let pakoda cook from both the sides
  12. When it turns golden from both the sides, take them out on a tissue or oil absorbent paper
  13. Sprinkle some chaat masala on the top of pakoras
  14. Serve hot with Mint Chutney and tamarind chutney.
