Recipe of vegetable uttapam

How to make Sooji vegetable uttapam 

Uttapam is delicious and authentic south Indian dish which is accompanied by sambar and coconut chutney. This healthy and yummy uttapam is nutritious, light on stomach and easily digestible. Uttapam can be made from idli batter, dosa batter or with sooji (Semolina). Sooji (Semolina) is an ingredient available in every kitchen. If you want to make an instant uttapam, add yogurt in sooji and your batter is ready. You can add your choice of vegetables in the same.

Ingredients :
uttapam,sooji uttapam,vegetable uttapam,puda,cheela,chilla,semolina puda,semolina chilla,semolina uttapam

  • 2 cup sooji
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt
  • Salt according to taste
  • water
  • olive oil
  • 2 chopped onions 
  • 1/2 cup boiled corn
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • 1 chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 chopped green chillies  
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder (Optional)
Preparation :
  1. Take sooji in a bowl
  2. Add yogurt, salt, pepper, chaat masala, red chilly powder and water in it
  3. Mix well and keep it aside for 5 minutes
  4. Heat a non-stick tawa 
  5. Add 1/2 teaspoon olive oil and spread
  6. Put flame on low/simmer and pour sooji batter
  7. Put 1 ladle batter and spread it 
  8. Sprinkle corn, green chillies, tomatoes, bell pepper, onions and coriander on the top of it
  9. Sprinkle few drops of olive oil on the top
  10. Put a lid, and let it cook for a minute on low flame
  11. When cooked, flip and let it cook on a low flame for a minute again
  12. Serve hot with Mint Chutney, tamarind chutney or sambar

Note :
  • Batter should not be too thick and thin. It should be of medium consistency 
  • Cook it on low flame and don't overcook it
  • Don't put the lid for too long, otherwise vegetable will become soggy.
