How to make Besan chilla with stuffed cottage cheese

Recipe of Besan chilla with Paneer

Besan chilla with stuffed paneer is savory chickpeas crepe/pancakes stuffed with mashed cottage cheese. It is a healthy quick and delicious breakfast recipe. It can be served with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, tomato sauce or yogurt dip too. The flavor of Indian spices in this makes it irresistible. It is nutritious and wholesome breakfast meal. It can be prepared in jiffy as a quick breakfast snack. It tastes best when serve hot. Besan chilla is also called vegetarian omelette or besan dosa. You can stuff your choice of filling in it. Potato filling, corn or vegetable filling tastes great too. It can be served as an easy snack too.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients :
  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • salt according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • Paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 2 chopped green chillies (optional)
  • chopped coriander leaves
  • Olive / refine oil

Preparation :

  1. In a bowl, add besan, salt and some water
  2. Mix the batter so that lumps should not form
  3. Batter should not be too thick and thin, consistency of the batter should be medium, keep it aside
  4. Take another bowl, mash paneer and add salt, garam masala, chaat masala, green chillies and coriander leaves in it and mix it well
  5. Heat a non-stick tawa and sprinkle some oil
  6. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it
  7. Cook it till it turns golden brown and then flip it
  8. Sprinkle some oil on the other side and let it cook on medium flame
  9. Put stuffing of paneer in the center and fold the chilla like a dosa
  10. Cut it in pieces or can serve the whole chilla with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.

  5. Lovely invention though we don't use paneer that much over here. Let me see if tofu will work as good as it for this delicious savory pancakes.
