How to make Makki Mooli ki Roti

Recipe of Makki Mooli ki roti | Maize flour radish Indian Flat-bread 

Makki Mooli ki roti is a Maize flour radish flatbread which is flavorful, wholesome and nutritious. It is a famous Indian flatbread and a must have in winters. It is healthy and delicious. It can be served with a bowl of yogurt or can be a perfect accompaniment for Indian curry dish. You can also serve it with the dip or a pickle. It is perfect for breakfast or lunch. It is savory, crispy and vegan. If you want to begin your day with a healthy and filling breakfast, you can have these pancakes with a bowl full of yogurt or raita.

Ingredients for makki di roti :
  • 3 cups maize flour
  • 2 grated radish
  • chopped radish leaves
  • 1 finely chopped green chilly
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • water
  • oil
Preparation for makki mooli ki roti :
  1. In a bowl, add maize flour, grated radish, green chilly and chopped radish leaves
  2. Add salt, pepper, chaat masala and knead a dough by adding water
  3. Dough should be of medium thick consistency
  4. Take a round dough ball, pat each ball on dampened palm to make a roti, try to make it as thin as possible
  5. Sprinkle some maize flour on rolling board, and put the roti that we made with our palm
  6. And further press it and make it a a round shape roti
  7. Heat tawa, place makki mooli ki roti on it
  8. Sprinkle some oil on both the sides 
  9. If it looks dry, sprinkle more oil on both the sides
  10. Cook it properly from both the sides until it becomes crisp
  11. Serve hot with Yogurt, white butter or any curry dish.

  4. Although we have mooli parathas, I have never made it with maize flour. This sounds lovely and I'd love to try it. Such a wholesome dish...I'll definitely make it one of these days!
