Recipe of Amla ki chutney | Gooseberry Chutney

Amla ki chutney is a healthy Indian chutney/dip prepared using Gooseberry. It is a perfect accompaniment with Indian meal. It is tangy and sweet chutney which can be prepared quickly. This delicious chutney can be served with any meal of the day. It will enhance the flavor and taste of the food and you will get the nutrients from this nutrition rich fruit. If you don't enjoy eating amla, you can include it in your diet in the form of this chutney, you will relish this delicious chutney for sure.

Gooseberry is famous for it's health benefits and nutritional value. It is rich in vitamins and antioxidants which help in curing many diseases. Amla is one of the best herb also called as a health tonic. It is also used in Ayurvedic medicines. This is the best way to include amla in your diet.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients :
  • 250 gram amla
  • 3 teaspoon fennel seeds (sauf)
  • salt according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilly
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar 
  • 3 small cardamom (choti elachi)
  • finely chopped handful almonds and cashews (kaju, badam) 
  • 1 teaspoon clarified butter / desi ghee 
Preparation :
  1. Grate gooseberry (amla) with a grater and take out the seeds
  2. Dry roast grated gooseberry till the water is soaked and it turns brown
  3. In a nonstick pan, add 1 teaspoon clarified butter (ghee)
  4. Add cumin seed, fennel seeds, salt, red chilly, pepper and grated gooseberry (amla)
  5. Stir continuously until it is cooked
  6. Add sugar and cardamom (elachi)
  7. Sprinkle some water and stir again
  8. Wait till it cooks properly on low flame
  9. Add chopped nuts
  10. Serve it with any meal or refrigerate it 
Note : 
  • You can refrigerate it for few weeks
  • Store it to a air tight container made of glass preferably
  • Sterilize jar before storing (you can boil water in a container and add jar in it for few seconds and then take it out and keep it aside)
