How to make coconut chutney

Recipe of coconut chutney

Coconut chutney is a delicious vegetarian healthy side dish. It is famous south Indian chutney which goes well with all savory south Indian dishes. It can be served with north Indian food too. It is spicy and flavorful chutney which is a perfect accompaniment with any savory breakfast dish.


Main ingredient of this chutney is coconut as the name suggests. We have tempered it with mustard seeds and red dry chilly. It is rich and delicious.Coconut chutney can also be used as a spread for sandwiches.You can serve it as dip with breads. It can be refrigerated upto two days. It is very simple and easy to make. It can be prepared in few minutes with minimum ingredients. It is fragrant and irresistible. It has vibrant color and nice fragrance.

Recipe Type : Chutney

Ingredients :
  • 3/4 cup roasted gram
  • 2 tablespoon chopped coconut
  • 1 small piece of tamarind
  • 7 cloves of garlic
  • 2 green chillies
  • Salt according to taste
For Tempering : 
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 3 dry red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon oil
Preparation :
  1. In a grinder, add gram, coconut, tamarind, garlic, green chilly and salt
  2. Grind it to a smooth paste
  3. Delicious chutney is ready, keep it aside
  4. Take a small pan, add oil, mustard seeds and dry red chilly
  5. When mustard seeds splutter, it is done
  6. Pour it on the top of the chutney and mix
  7. Serve with hot idlis or dosas
