How to make Plain bread Pakora

Recipe of Plain Bread Pakora

Plain bread pakora is a fritter in which bread is coated with gram flour which is very easy to prepare. It is a quick snack which can be made in jiffy. Bread pakora can be prepared with few ingredients available. It is a popular street food of India which is relished by everyone. It is a famous breakfast and tea-time snack.

These pakoras can be served with tamarind and Mint Chutney. They are crisp from outside and soft from inside. They tastes amazing when serve hot. There are two types of bread pakoras : Plain bread pokora in which has no stuffing, and other one is stuffed bread pakora which is stuffed with potatoes and cottage cheese.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients : 
  • 1 cup besan (Gram flour)
  • 3 pieces of whole wheat bread
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon pepper 
  • 1 teaspoon jeera powder (Cumin  powder)
  • 1 chopped green chilly
  • Oil for deep frying
Preparation :
  1. Take besan (Gram flour) in a bowl
  2. Add salt, green chilly and chaat masala in the same
  3. Add water in it and whisk it in smooth batter, make sure no lumps are formed
  4. Batter should be of medium consistency (Not too thick and not too thin)
  5. Cut slices of bread from the center in two pieces , keep it aside
  6. In a bowl, add salt, pepper, chaat masala and jeera powder and mix it well
  7. Spread masala evenly on the bread
  8. Heat oil in a shallow pan for deep frying
  9. When it is hot, dip bread in the besan batter and drop it in the oil
  10. Keep the flame medium, and let pakora cook from both the sides
  11. When it turns golden from both the sides, take them out on a tissue or oil absorbent paper
  12. Sprinkle some chaat masala on the top of pakoras
  13. You can cut them into pieces 
  14. Serve hot with Mint Chutney and tamarind chutney.
