How to make Instant Amla Pickle

Recipe of Instant Gooseberry Pickle | Amla Achar

Instant Amla pickle is one of the easiest and healthiest pickle.It is a quick sweet and tangy pickle which can be prepared in few minutes and can be served with any meal. It enhance the taste and flavor of any bland food. As you know that gooseberry is famous for it's health benefits and nutritional value. This is one of the delicious ways to add gooseberry to your diet.  It is a perfect accompaniment with Indian meal.

This delicious pickle can be served with any meal of the day. It will enhance the flavor and taste of the food and you will get the nutrients from this nutrition rich fruit. If you don't enjoy eating amla, you can include it in your diet in the form of this pickle, you will relish this delicious pickle for sure. Gooseberry is rich in vitamins and antioxidants which help in curing many diseases. Amla is one of the best herb also called as a health tonic. It is also used in Ayurvedic medicines. This is the best way to include amla in your diet.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients :

  • 10 amla / Gooseberry 
  • Mustard oil
  • 1 teapoon fenugreek seeds/ methere / methi ke dane
  • 10 cloves of garlic
  • 4 chopped green chilly
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds / Sauf
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • 1 tablespoon powdered jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon hing / asafoetida
Preparation :
  1. Wash and rinse amla (gooseberry) in water
  2. Boil amla (gooseberry) in a little water for 1 whistle
  3. Drain water and peel the slice of amla one by one
  4. Remove the seeds and keep the sliced amla in the bowl
  5. Dry them completely with a napkin or a towel and make sure there is no moisture left
  6. Heat mustard oil in a pan, add fenugreek seeds (methere), garlic, green chilly, fennel seeds, asafoetida. gooseberry pieces and cook on medium flame
  7. Add turmeric, red chilly and pepper in it
  8. Add  1 tablespoon powdered jaggery in it 
  9. Cook till the jaggery melts and then let it cool down
  10. Transfer the pickle in a sterilised glass jar
Note : 
  1. Store this pickle in a cool place or refrigerator.
  2. You can store this pickle upto 20 days 
  3. If you like it tangy and not sweet, you can make it without jaggery
