How to make Amla Ka Murabba

Recipe of Amla Ka Murabba | Amle Ka Murabba | Gooseberry Preserve

Amla ka Murabba is a healthy Indian preserve prepared using Indian Gooseberry. It is a perfect accompaniment with Indian meal and it can also served as a dessert. It is sweet murabba which can be prepared easily. If you don't enjoy eating amla, you can include it in your diet in the form of this, you will relish this delicious murabba for sure. You can adjust sweet according to taste.

Gooseberry is famous for it's health benefits and nutritional value. It is rich in vitamins and antioxidants which help in curing many diseases. Amla is one of the best herb also called as a health tonic. It is also used in Ayurvedic medicines.

Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients :
  • 500 grams Amla (Indian Gooseberry)
  • 2 1/2 cup sugar 
  • 1/3 teaspoon cardamom powder(choti elachi)
  • finely chopped handful almonds and cashews (kaju, badam) 
Preparation :
  1. Wash Amla thoroughly and place gooseberry (amla) in a pan, add two cup of water and cook on low flame for 15 minutes till the amla are soft
  2. Drain the water, take out the seeds from amla
  3. Heat sugar with 3 cups of water in a deep pan and cook it till it turns into a thick consistency syrup, you can add 1 tablespoon water if it's very thick 
  4. Add amla in the syrup and keep cooking on low flame
  5. Add cardamom powder and almonds in it
  6. Cook on low flame and stir continuously until mixture is thick honey like consistency
  7. Allow it to cool completely
  8. Serve it after any meal as a dessert or store it in a air tight container in a cool and dry place
Note : 
  • You can refrigerate it for few weeks
  • Store it to a air tight container made of glass preferably
  • Sterilize jar before storing (you can boil water in a container and add jar in it for few seconds and then take it out and keep it aside)
