How to make Sooji veggie chilla

Sooji veggie chilla/puda are savory crepes made with rava/sooji, fresh veggies and Indian spices. It is a modified version of south Indian uttapam. This healthy and yummy chilla is nutritious, light on stomach and easily digestible. It is quick, under 15 minute recipe which is delicious and can be made in jiffy. It is a perfect breakfast option that you will love. It is an instant and healthy recipe.


You can also serve it as a evening snack with a hot cup of tea. You can give lot of variations to these pancakes. You can add your choice of veggies in it.


Lets start with the recipe :

Ingredients :
  • 2 cup sooji
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt
  • Salt according to taste
  • water
  • oil
  • 2 chopped onions 
  • 1 finely chopped red bell pepper/capsicum
  • 1 finely chopped green bell pepper/capsicum
  • 1 finely chopped yellow bell pepper/capsicum
  • 2 finely chopped green chillies  
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder (optional)
Preparation :

  • In a bowl, add sooji, yogurt, water in a bowl
  • Add salt, pepper, chaat masala, red chilly powder 
  • Mix well and make sure no lumps are formed
  • Add green, red, yellow, onion, green chillies, spinach and coriander leaves in it
  • Mix well and keep it aside
  • Heat a non-stick tawa and sprinkle oil on it 
  • On a medium flame, with a ladle pour the mixture on tawa, and spread it in a circle
  • Make sure to spread it uniformly and press it with the spatula 
  • Make sure to press it from all the sides, to make it thin and crispy
  • When it turns golden, flip it, and cook from the other side
  • Serve hot with Mint Chutney, tamarind chutney or coconut chutney
Note :
  • Batter should not be too thick and thin. It should be of medium consistency 
  • Spread the batter quickly, otherwise it will dry and cannot be spread
